UMBC’s Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy and Procedure

UMBC is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the campus community and recognizes its responsibility to maintain an environment which is free from sexual misconduct, interpersonal violence, and related misconduct. UMBC prohibits all forms of gender discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex or gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation or gender identity or expression in its educational programs and activities or with respect to terms and conditions of employment.

UMBC values safety, cultural and ethnic diversity, social responsibility, lifelong learning, equity, and civic engagement. Consistent with these principles, UMBC does not discriminate in offering equal access to its educational programs and activities or with respect to employment terms and conditions on the basis of a UMBC community member’s race, creed, color, religion, sex, gender, pregnancy, ancestry, age, gender identity or expression, national origin, veterans status, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, or genetic information.

UMBC prohibits retaliation against any student, faculty, staff, or applicant for admission or employment who asserts a claim under UMBC’s policies or who participates in an investigation of a complaint.
